Clinical Documentation Specialist (CDS Nurse)

Part time position, 20 hours per week. There is flexibility of the scheduling of those weekly hours.

Job Responsibilities
- Performs extensive medical record review through the use of CDI software integrated with EMR
- Facilitates documentation improvement by participating in committee meetings
- Assist in coordination of clinical documentation improvement consistent with corporate compliance guidelines and appropriate financial reimbursement
- Provide education to providers, nurses and other CDI staff
Required Job Specific Competencies
- Working knowledge of federal and state regulations
- Ensures the integrity of the clinical documentation support medical necessity, diagnosis related groups (DRG) and quality of care
- Ability to work independently, prioritize and practice capable and effective problem identification and resolution
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with diverse disciplines
Qualifications/Experience
- Licensed RN or equivalent or higher education in health related field
- Minimum 5 years inpatient clinical experience
- Clinical documentation experience strongly preferred
- Extensive knowledge of complex disease processes
- Clinical Documentation Specialist (CDS) or Clinical Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP) within three years of starting the role
- Epic experience preferred
- Proficiency with computers, spreadsheets and Microsoft office
Education
- BS in Nursing preferred (or obtained within 5 years of hire) OR college graduate in other health related field

Position Pay Range: $35.00-45.00/hour
Starting Pay: Based on experience
