Summary of Job Duties: The Psychiatric Research Institute (PRI) internship will assist in preparing social work interns to be knowledgeable of the profession's missions, values, principles, and standards, and will seek the well-being of the client population in a consistently ethical manner. The Social Work Intern will collaborate with PRI and other UAMS departments to build and maintain collaborative relationships with community health and social welfare organizations and community groups in promoting effective and efficient service delivery and the development of resources to meet the needs of client populations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in social work or related field required.

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited university, working toward a Master's in Social Work required.

  • One (1) or more years of experience working in a behavioral health setting preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide both direct and indirect clinical services to patients and their families to support overall care and treatment goals.

  • Coordinate care through indirect services, including patient and family phone communication, follow-ups, and resource linkage.

  • Deliver direct clinical services, including but not limited to, diagnostic assessments, individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, collateral interventions, and crisis intervention.

  • Ensure all services are conducted under the supervision of a Licensed Mental Health Provider and in accordance with established clinical standards.

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation within patient records.

  • Participate in staff meetings, case consultations, and other organizational meetings as required.

  • Complete administrative tasks, required trainings, and other assigned duties to support program operations and compliance.
