The Cancer Center Infusion Supervisor is responsible for navigating the daily operations of the ambulatory oncology infusion clinic's nursing and administrative functions which includes but is not limited to staff management, budgeting, and ensuring quality patient care for adults and pediatric patients with non- cancerous, hematology, and/or oncology conditions, according to ONS guidelines.

Job Specific Responsibilities
Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:
• Provide leadership to professional staff nurses and non- nurse team in the ambulatory oncology infusion clinic steering initiatives related to hiring, training, performance management, employee engagement, disciplinary, and patient satisfaction.
• Support chemotherapy education provided by licensed providers regarding the disease process, chemotherapy drugs, side effects, procedures, protocols, and complications resulting from disease and treatment. Videos, handouts, and one-on-one teaching methods are utilized.
• Contributes to establishing policies and procedures, in the development of the ambulatory infusion services and symptom management clinic patient navigation, care management and care coordination.
• Plans, coordinates, and evaluates all activities impacting patient care delivery; holds self and staff accountable for identification, evaluation, documentation, and appropriate intervention of patients' needs to ensure high-quality cost-effective care.
• Assists Director of Operations with economic, financial, market, and industry data to understand and improve business results, leading in the development of data collection and analysis for quality improvement, improved patient care, and formulating goals and objectives.
• Collaborate with the UMC Health System Cancer Center Director of Operations and Leadership team to build and achieve high nurse retention, engagement, goals, and strengthen upon a motivated team to increase efficiency and productivity, evaluate and identify opportunities for program expansion within the ambulatory oncology clinics, infusion/s and symptom management clinic nursing unit/s
• Assist with workplace safety initiatives, DNV Readiness, Magnet, Evidenced based NDNQI practice scoring, Accreditation, 90-day and annual competencies and evaluations, staff education.
• All other assigned duties related to Oncology Clinic

Education and Experience
• (BSN) Bachelor Science, Nursing
• + 3 years of nursing experience; +2 years in ambulatory oncology setting, preferably a hospital

Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations
• RN, registered with the Texas State Board of Nursing
• BLS: Basic Life Skills Certification from American heart Association
• ONS Certification must be obtained within 12 months of hire into the role

Skills and Abilities
• Ability to collaborative with physicians, management, and other clinical leaders and staff to promote efficient, high quality nursing care delivery consistent with UMC Health System best practice principles, assuring patient satisfaction, regulatory compliance, and provider efficiency.
• Functional knowledge of chemotherapy protocols and therapies
• Ability to communicate patient safety, satisfaction, and outcomes, with empathy and influence

Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
This position requires interaction with medical staff in the hospital and external entities that extend resources and care for cancer patients

Physical Capabilities
Visual and auditory acuity required. Occasional lifting of patients with assistance is required.

Environmental/Working Conditions
This position is subject to inside environmental changes that may include constant change in temperatures. Increased risk exposure to radiation, chemicals, and blood borne pathogens
