University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center

University of Maryland School of Medicine

The Program in Trauma at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is currently recruiting a full-time Critical Care Intensivist at UM Capital Region Medical Center (UMCRMC) located in Largo, Maryland. This is an exciting time for UMCRMC with the move to a brand-new hospital in July 2021.

The Critical Care Medicine Division supports a 32 bed ICU/CCU unit as well as a 8-10 bed IMC unit. The two multi-disciplinary Critical Care teams provide care to a mixed medical and surgical high acuity unit covering patients from Medicine, Surgery, Trauma, Neurology/Neurosurgery and Cardiac Surgery. Trauma is a significant component, as the hospital is the second busiest Trauma Center in the State of Maryland. There is a daily swing shift service for new admissions and consults and an in-house night shift from 7p –7a. The Medicine team works with medical residents and other services, partnered with Advanced Practitioners who are proficient in critical care procedures.

The hospital has a large Internal Medicine and Family Practice training program with teaching responsibilities. The hospital is staffed with in-house Intensivists, Anesthesiologists, Hospitalists and Trauma Surgeons 24/7/365.

Applicant must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Critical Care. Primary board can be in Medicine, Surgery, Anesthesiology or Emergency Medicine. Preference will be given to those with neuro critical care experience.

The position includes an academic appointment with the University of Maryland School of Medicine; rank will be commensurate with experience and training. A competitive salary is being offered and the position is currently available. Cheverly is located near DC and Baltimore metro areas.
