Position Description
The director is responsible not only for the daily operations of the TDC, the UT Dallas educator preparation program, but also for continuously promoting, developing, and improving the program, faculty, and staff. Ensuring the TDC remains in good standing with UT Dallas and the Texas Education Agency are the underlying fundamental responsibilities of the director.
Achieving the charge (above) requires the director lead and engage in a variety of activities (as needed) such as: · Ensure all courses are delivered with academic fidelity and office procedures and processes continue supporting the success of students enrolled in the educator preparation program. · Engage in UT Dallas governance procedures and processes. · Engage with students in support of TDC faculty and staff. · Collaborate and support the School of Interdisciplinary Studies faculty and staff. · Collaborate and support UTeach Dallas in the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. · Engage with faculty and staff for annual performance reviews. · Support TDC faculty and staff for success in their roles in the TDC. · Engage and collaborate with UT Dallas and other university administration, faculty, and staff. · Engage with, support, and partner with area independent school districts promoting the quality of TDC students' preparation. · Engage with, support, and partner with Collin and Dallas Colleges promoting educator preparation and seamless transfer of students into TDC. · Represent TDC outside UT Dallas. · Collaborate with UT System Research and Policy Analyst. · Collaborate with UT System and UT Dallas Governmental Relations staff. · Collaborate with UT System Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. · Collaborate with colleagues across the state to promote desirable educational policy with Texas Education Agency (TEA), State Board for Educator Certification SBEC) and State Board of Education (SBOE). · Organize, plan and coordinate state mandated Advisory Board meetings for TDC. · Provide academic leadership for clinical teaching, internship, residency, and early field experience programs including development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement. · Work with business administrator to manage the budget provided by the Dean, School of Interdisciplinary Studies. · Represent TDC outside UT Dallas. · Serve as the Director of the Bachelor's degree program in Education.
The appointment commences for the fall 2025 semester.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience: A Ph.D.or equivalent in education and demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. We are seeking candidates able to deliver high quality teaching using evidence-based practices to effectively engage students from a range of backgrounds and experiences.
Preferred Education and Experience: Six or more years' experience as a teacher and in School Administration.
The School of Interdisciplinary Studies
The School of Interdisciplinary Studies at The University of Texas at Dallas provides an environment that allows students to understand and integrate the liberal arts and sciences. Our programs are specially designed to allow pursuit of unconventional or innovative combinations of coursework.
