JOB SUMMARY
WPMG, the medical group for Kaiser Permanente of Washington, is committed to building a future healthcare workforce that improves health equity. WPMG's Healthcare Career Pathways program (HCCP) builds on Kaiser Permanente's goals by creating experiential learning activities and workforce development pathways for students committed to health equity. HCCP programs introduce students to advanced healthcare careers that improve the health of communities such as public health practice and research, clinical careers (such as mental health, midwifery, optometry, medicine, pharmacy and dentistry), and health administration.
The College Programs Advisor tracks, advises and coaches HCCP students, supervises our existing programs for HCCP students, educates students on health professional school applications, supports WPMG clinician mentors, and strategically grows the health equity workforce across Washington state. This leader builds and maintains strong relationships with Community and Technical Colleges, undergraduate, graduate and professional schools, educational non-profits, community organizations and Tribal governments to support HCCP students as they apply for their next level of education and training.
The College Programs Advisor takes direct responsibility for advising cohorts of HCCP students from college into graduate or professional school. This role supplements other advising and career transition resources available to college students across Washington state. Therefore, the successful candidate will be an experienced advisor/coach with demonstrated success in helping students achieve academic success, who connects well with students from a wide range of backgrounds while supporting their professional development.
The College Programs Advisor will also work with programs and institutions serving K12 students to coordinate strategies to bridge students into higher education.
