As a CDL Class A or B Vac Truck / Roll-Off Truck Operator, you will play a critical role in our industrial cleaning operations. Operating specialized vacuum trucks and Roll-Off trucks you will be responsible for performing efficient and safe removal of waste materials, liquids, and sludge from client sites. Your expertise in operating vacuum trucks / Roll-Off trucks and adherence to safety protocols will ensure the successful completion of cleaning projects while maintaining a high standard of safety.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Vacuum Truck / Roll-Off Truck Operations:
* Safely operate and maneuver CDL Class A or B vacuum trucks / Roll-Off trucks,adhering to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
* Perform efficient removal of various waste materials, liquids, sludge, and debris from tanks, pits, vessels, and other industrial structures.
* Utilize vacuum equipment, hoses, and attachments to effectively and safely complete cleaning tasks.
* Waste Management and Disposal:
* Ensure proper handling, transportation, and disposal of waste materials in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
* Adhere to waste management protocols, including identifying and segregating hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
* Maintain accurate documentation of waste removal activities, including manifests and disposal records.
* Equipment Maintenance:
* Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of vacuum trucks / roll-off trucks, ensuring they are in proper working condition and reporting any issues promptly.
* Perform basic maintenance tasks such as checking fluid levels, inspecting hoses and fittings,cables and cleaning filters.
* Communicate equipment repair or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.
* Safety and Compliance:
* Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following lockout/tagout procedures.
* Participate in safety meetings and training sessions, actively promoting a culture of safety awareness and compliance among team members.
* Identify potential hazards and report safety concerns to supervisors, suggesting improvements to enhance safety measures and practices.
* Documentation and Reporting:
* Accurately record and maintain job-specific documentation, including work orders, inspection reports, and incident reports.
* Collaborate with team members to provide detailed and accurate information for project reports, including completed tasks, challenges encountered, and recommendations for improvement.
* Team Collaboration:
* Coordinate and communicate effectively with other team members, including supervisors and project managers, to ensure efficient workflow and successful project completion.
* Support and assist colleagues with various tasks as needed, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
Job Requirements:
* Valid CDL Class A or B license with a clean driving record.
* Previous experience as a vacuum truck operator or similar role in an industrial cleaning or waste management environment is preferred but not required.
* Strong knowledge of vacuum truck operations, roll-off truck operations, including setup, operation, and maintenance is preferred.
* Familiarity with waste management and disposal regulations, including knowledge of hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling.
* Understanding of relevant safety regulations, such as OSHA standards and confined space entry procedures.
* Ability to operate and maneuver CDL Class A or B vacuum trucks / roll-off trucks safely and efficiently.
* Physical fitness and ability to perform tasks that may involve manual labor and working in various weather conditions.
* Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Must have a Class A or B CDL with tanker endorsement valid for the state in which the position works. Requires a clean driving record meeting Waste Pro driving guidelines.
* At least 1 year of previous experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL within the past 7 (seven) years.
* Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
* Understand refuse collection policies, procedures, guidelines and practices; understanding of Department of Transportation and State requirements for operators of commercial motor vehicles.
* Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
* Exhibit normal range of body motion.
* Drive a straight truck with tank observing legal and defensive driving practices.
* Follow a designated collection route or work schedule;
* Understand and carry out oral and written instructions;
* Maintain written records and service responses.
