OPPORTUNITY ALERT - Now Hiring a Recycling Coordinator in Louisiana to be responsible for implementing and overseeing recycling diversion programs within the LSU campus and New Orleans Market.

 

The Recycling Coordinator is responsible for implementing and overseeing recycling diversion programs. This role will ensure compliance with environmental regulations, educate internal teams and customers, tracks performance metrics, and drive continuous improvement to maximize diversion and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Program Coordinator

  • Coordinate day-to-day recycling operations and contractual obligations within a market .
  • Maintain recycling collection schedules and coordinate between customer and Waste Pro Operations.
  • Monitor contamination and implement corrective measures.
  • Assist with set-up, removal, and maintenance of recycling containers, carts, and inventory
  • Ensures All staff are following safety guidelines and procedures

Customer & Community Engagement

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for recycling-related inquiries with reporting to District Manager.
  • Educate customers, municipalities, and universities on recycling guidelines, proper sorting, and contamination prevention.
  • Plan and participate in community outreach events, sustainability fairs, and educational campaigns.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure recycling programs comply with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
  • Maintain accurate recycling tonnage, diversion rate, and contamination reports.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly reports for management and external stakeholders.

Internal Collaboration

  • Work with Operations Managers, Supervisors, and sorters to ensure recycling routes are efficient and contamination is flagged.
  • Train helpers on proper recycling collection procedures and safety practices.
  • Track recycling market trends (cardboard, plastics, metals, organics, etc.).
  • Identify new opportunities for material recovery and waste diversion.
  • Recommend and implement cost-saving and revenue-generating initiatives.
 

OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Employees in this job classification must attend and participate in corporation sponsored training courses as assigned.
  • Employees in this job classification are responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by Waste Pro USA.
  • Any additional job duties that may be assigned by the Regional Vice President.
