Wilson Health is looking for a direct hire Acute Care (Medical Surgical-Telemetry) Charge Registered Nurse for our location in Sidney, Ohio (North Dayton, Ohio) area.

Employment Status: Part-Time

Hours: 24 hours a week (48 hours per pay period)

Shift: 7am-7pm

Position Reports to: Acute Care Nurse Manager                           

Department Description: Wilson Health's Acute Care Department is a 23-bed medical-surgical -telemetry unit. This unit is where patients receive active but short-term treatment for a server injury or episode of illness, an urgent medical condition, or during recovery from surgery. 

Job Summary: The Charge Nurse provides patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, teaching and supervision.  They also provide collaboration with the healthcare team, patient, family and significant other. The Charge Nurse is accountable for his/her own professional development and practice within the scope of care defined by law and ethics.  All team members of Wilson Health will promote our purpose to improve the health of our community so people can spend more time doing what they love with those they love.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 
  • Reviews staffing, current shift as well as that of the next shift in conjunction with the Manager/ Nursing Supervisor. 
  • Coordinates student experiences on the unit.
  • Coordinates break and lunch relief for staff.
  • Addresses inappropriate staff behavior during the shift and follows through with the Clinical Manager.
  • Assists with orientation of staff to charge responsibilities as needed.
  • Addresses patient/family concerns in timely manner and reports those to the Manager.
  • Communicates patient care needs/expectations/priorities to assigned Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Patient Care Assistants (PCTs), and HUCs.
  • Coordinates patient flow within the department according to availability of nursing staff, room availability and equipment needs.
  • Functions effectively as a charge nurse and oversees and manages unit functioning.
  • Provides leadership by delegating and supervising unit maintenance activities:
  • Pyxis and charge data collection
  • Infection control initiatives
  • EMR chart education
  • Safety and quality initiatives
  • Delegates and enlists staff participation in Patient Care Services and Hospital activities.
  • Policy/procedure review and revision.
  • Patient/family advocacy
  • Shared governance
  • Provides assistance to and coverage for the Manager & Staff Nurse Specialist.
  • Actively contributes to creating and maintaining a work culture that values collaboration and teamwork.
  • Performs activities related to cluster/staff management:
Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, Bachelor's preferred
  • Current R.N. license in State of Ohio.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support
  • Pediatric competent RN must have PALS or able to obtain
  • Telemetry competent RN must have rhythm analysis and ACLS or able to obtain
