Position Reports to: Nutrition Services Manager Department Description: Wilson Health's Dietary Food & Nutritional Services Department is responsible for providing excellent (patient, staff, and guest) focused nutritional care. Staff is dedicated to providing nutritious and delicious meals along with excellent customer service through efficient meal delivery. Job Summary: The RDN/RD is an integral member of the inter-disciplinary healthcare team. The RDN/RD is responsible for completing nutrition assessments, consultations and referrals for inpatients and outpatients. The RDN/RD also provides nutrition education to patients and/or their families. The RDN/RD serves as a Consultant Dietitian for various hospital departments and/or organizations within the community. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Complete nutritional assessments utilizing the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) and implement care Plans.
- Educate and counsel patients and families on nutritional issues/topics, either individually or in groups.
- Provide individualized medical nutrition therapy (MNT) to patients/families with various disease states requiring nutritional management.
- Communicate individualized nutrition care plans to other health care providers as a member if the inter-disciplinary team.
- Utilize electronic medical record for patient information and documentation. A variety of electronic medical records may be used.
- Utilize patient meal system software effectively.
- Participate in departmental meetings and facility wide Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) projects.
- Participate in the development and/or revision of nutrition-related policies and procedures.
- Stay current with the most recent nutrition related trends.
- Compile and/or develop educational materials for use in nutrition education.
- Serve as a Consultant RDN/RD for local skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility.
- Serve as a Consultant RDN/RD for the WIC program at a local Health Department.
- Serve as a Consultant RDN/RD for Wilson Health's Cardiac Rehabilitation program.
- Maintain registration and Licensure to practice as an RDN/RD, LD in the state of Ohio.
- May perform miscellaneous job-related responsibilities if assigned.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in dietetics, nutrition or closely related field from an accredited college or university that is consistent with the academic standards for RDN/RD's.
- Minimum one year of related work experience as an RDN/RD required.
