Working Hours: 1st Shift (Monday-Friday) - 40 hours per week - 80 hours per pay period HOURS WILL VARY - Start time may be as early as 6:45am. Monday - Friday - 6:45am - 6pm  - this position is strictly a float position.   JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the physician, the Clinical Float (Certified Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse) provides comprehensive clinical support to providers across multiple Wilson Health Medical Group practices. This position is dedicated exclusively to floating between clinic locations to ensure seamless patient care, maintain staffing coverage, and support daily operations.

The Clinical Float performs all clinical duties within the scope of their certification or licensure, organizational policies, and applicable state regulations. Responsibilities include delivering high-quality patient care, assisting with examinations and procedures, documenting in the electronic health record, coordinating patient care, and promoting an exceptional patient experience.

This position is primarily assigned to Wilson Health Medical Group offices located on the main campus in Sidney, Ohio, but will routinely travel to and provide coverage at other practice locations, including Jackson Center, Anna, Botkins, and additional Wilson Health Medical Group sites as needed.

The Clinical Float reports directly to the Clinical Administrator of Wilson Health Medical Group. Medical Assistants are required to maintain current certification throughout employment. Licensed Practical Nurses must maintain a current, unrestricted Ohio LPN license in good standing.

  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides high-quality clinical support under the direction of the physician and within the scope of licensure/certification and established clinical guidelines. Anticipates provider needs to promote efficient patient flow and exceptional patient care.
  • Functions as a flexible clinical team member by floating to multiple Wilson Health Medical Group practice locations as assigned to support staffing and operational needs.
  • Greets patients in a courteous, compassionate, and professional manner while demonstrating Wilson Health's ASPIRE values. Escorts patients to exam rooms and prepares them for their visit.
  • Obtains and accurately documents vital signs, chief complaints, medical history updates, current medications, allergies, and other pertinent patient information in the electronic medical record.
  • Assists providers with examinations, treatments, and in-office procedures, including specimen collection, blood draws, injections, electrocardiograms (EKGs), and minor surgical procedures.
  • Provides patient and family education regarding medical conditions, medications, treatment plans, and follow-up care as directed by the provider.
  • Documents patient care accurately, thoroughly, and timely in the electronic health record while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with documentation standards.
  • Coordinates patient care by assisting with diagnostic testing, referrals, prior authorizations, and follow-up appointments, ensuring appropriate documentation and referral tracking.
  • Communicates professionally with patients, families, providers, and interdisciplinary team members to promote continuity of care and positive patient experiences.
  • Performs quality control and routine maintenance of clinical equipment, including laboratory testing devices, refrigerators, sterilizers, and other equipment, while maintaining required compliance logs.
  • Maintains exam rooms by ensuring cleanliness, stocking supplies, and monitoring inventory levels. Orders medical and laboratory supplies in accordance with established procedures.
  • Supports front office operations as needed, including appointment scheduling, telephone triage, electronic messaging, faxing, insurance documentation, and completion of patient forms to ensure efficient clinic operations.
  • Adapts quickly to varying provider workflows, office procedures, and patient populations while maintaining high standards of customer service and clinical excellence.
  • Complies with all applicable federal and state regulations, OSHA standards, infection prevention practices, HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules, and Wilson Health Medical Group policies and procedures.
  • Participates in departmental meetings, required education, competency validation, and quality improvement initiatives to support continuous professional development and organizational goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support patient care and the overall mission of Wilson Health.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required Qualifications (One of the Following):

  • High school diploma or equivalent and successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential, or other nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification, as applicable.
  • OR graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing (LPN) program with a current, unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Ohio.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a multi-provider or multi-specialty medical practice.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR/EMR)  - EPIC - and practice management systems.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or the ability to obtain certification within the required timeframe.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while adapting to multiple practice locations, providers, and changing patient care needs.
