Position Summary
The Senior Business Development Manager for the Healthcare Industry Vertical (IV) at YLA Corporate BD brings extensive expertise in the Healthcare and Pharmaceutical sectors, with a proven track record in supply chain and 3PL, specifically in international freight forwarding. Key responsibilities include proactively identifying and engaging new target accounts, creating winning strategies, developing relationships, and proposing solutions to onboard target accounts smoothly. The primary focus is driving sales growth and enhancing our market presence in the healthcare vertical, emphasizing proactive business development and collaboration with all stakeholders within YLA to secure new opportunities. This role is crucial for expanding YLA's market presence, driving revenue and GOP growth, and forging strategic partnerships with key healthcare accounts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry, focusing on air freight forwarding and supply chain solutions.
- Account Management: Build strong relationships with secured and assigned accounts, understand their needs, and deliver tailored logistics solutions.
- Sales Strategy: Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and market growth.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry regulations, including but not limited to Good Distribution Practice (GDP) and FDA standards.
- Cold Chain Management: Oversee temperature-controlled logistics operations, ensuring the integrity and quality of temperature-sensitive products.
- Technical Expertise: Utilize knowledge of air freight operations, warehousing, and transportation management to provide comprehensive solutions to clients.
- Market Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscapes.
- CRM Utilization: Effectively utilize Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems to manage client interactions, track sales activities, and analyze data to drive business growth.
- Coordination: Coordinate with Yusen's global and YLA channels to develop and present proposals, conduct customer negotiations, coordinate decision-making processes, overcome objections to closure, onboard new clients, and support transparency throughout YLA.
- Presentations and Meetings: As needed, conduct presentations and collaborative meetings with all levels of Yusen Logistics International and YLA stakeholders.
- Special Projects: As needed, support the Head of the Industry Vertical – healthcare and pharma—and other leadership with special projects.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of sales professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- A bachelor's degree in business administration, Marketing, or a related field, or a similar advanced degree, is preferred.
- Extensive experience, at least ten (10) years, in business development and sales management within the Logistics or Supply Chain industry.
- Proven track record of managing global networks and achieving sales targets.
- Experience working with multicultural teams in global and local markets.
- Proven ability to work within a significant regional and global organization to build consensus and execute deliverables.
- Strong strategic planning and business development skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Proficiency in leveraging CRM tools to monitor and track business development activities.
- Ability to analyze internal insights to identify and develop new business opportunities.
- Experience in collaborating with senior management and key stakeholders to ensure holistic business development approaches.
- Proven ability to build relationships with external stakeholders to accelerate business development efforts.
- Ability to coach and manage direct reports to enhance their performance and career development.
- Willingness to travel and represent the company at industry trade shows and networking events.
Essential Job Functions
- Ability to use a computer for tasks such as communicating via email, preparing reports, and working in various software systems, including Microsoft Office.
- Work outside regular business hours (9-5) to meet customer needs.
- Travel overnight as required up to 30% of the time.
- Review and analyze data to make recommendations to leadership.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
