Position Summary
Reporting to the Science Division Director of Operations and in collaboration with the Computer Science (CS) Chair, the Computer Science Program Manager leads strategic outreach and program expansion efforts to enhance the visibility and growth of the Computer Science programs, the 4-year Bachelor of Science, and the CS Transfer program. The Program Manager supports the entire Computer Science program, including the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, the CS Transfer program, and all specializations developed within the program.
The Program Manager develops, plans and administers academic advising for all the students enrolled in the 4-year Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree program. The Program Manager oversees administrative aspects of the program. This includes budget development, and supervision of hourly staff/student employees.
The Computer Science Program Manager also contributes to the program¿s lead efforts in developing industry partnerships, educational institutions, and underrepresented communities in Computer Science and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields.
This role also manages the selective admissions application and review process for the 4-year Bachelor of Science in Computer Science Program. This position is responsible for admission policy and oversight, decision-making, communication with applicants about admissions decision and meeting enrollment targets for newly admitted students. Also, the Program Manager tracks success metrics such as enrollment targets, retention rates, and student satisfaction surveys to assess program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
Additionally, the Computer Science Program Manager is responsible for program marketing, departmental recommendations and provides requested support to the Chair, the faculty and students to achieve success in an environment that values diversity and pluralism. This position also generates reports for student data including educational status and progress. This position also reports out on different program projects ensuring the program's operational efficiency and growth.
Pay, Benefits & Work SchedulePosition Salary Range: $76,113/year - $110,364/year
The salary information shown above is a general guideline only. The salary will be determined based on candidate's qualifications and related experience, as well as market and business considerations. Typically, new hire starts no higher than $84,676/year based on Bellevue College Exempt salary schedule.

The employee is scheduled to work 40 hours per workweek. This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, which means that you are not eligible for overtime pay.

About the DepartmentThe Computer Science department is compromised of the Computer Science Transfer and the 4-year Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree program. Bellevue College is the first of Washington State¿s community and technical colleges to offer a traditional, four-year Bachelor of Science degree. The CS program has a proven track record of preparing students for a career in computer science through individualized support, relevant curriculum, and a focus on student job placement after graduation.
Essential FunctionsAdvising and promoting student success
- Advise enrolled students by holding individual meetings with students in the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science program regarding academic planning, degree requirements, career opportunities, maintaining academic satisfactory progress, and adhering to BC policy.
- Counsel students facing academic difficulties or personal problems; make referrals to other campus resources, as needed.
- Maintain student files including appropriate documentation for grades and any related element to accreditation purposes, as needed.
- Support efforts to enhance student engagement by helping organize extracurricular programs, mentorship opportunities, and professional development events
Coordinate student retention initiatives and collaborate with campus services to monitor and improve student outcomes. - Assist students with graduate school opportunities by maintaining a working relationship with local and national programs in the US.
- Support faculty in coordinating capstone projects and Technical Mock Interviews for seniors in the program.
- Keep the Dean of Science, Program Chair of Computer Science, and Computer Science faculty apprised of emerging trends, best practices or on-going advising issues that impact student learning and success.
- Act as program liaison to Campus offices, including Center for Career Services & Women¿s Center, Enrollment Services Office, Financial Aid, Marketing, Office of International Education and Global Initiatives, Running Start, Multicultural Services and the Evaluation & Graduation Office.
Marketing & Outreach
- Collaborate with the Marketing Director to strategize the annual marketing plan for Computer Science program.
- Oversee the development of promotional materials and maintain Computer Science website to provide current information.
- Engage social media and digital platforms to promote and connect with potential students and partners.
- Coordinate internal and external promotional events such as open houses, tech expos, career fairs, high school information sessions and industry panels to showcase the Computer Science program and its outcomes to potential students and stakeholders.
- Lead and manage strategic outreach efforts to expand the Computer Science program's reach and visibility, both locally and nationally.
- Develop and implement targeted outreach programs for communities traditionally underrepresented in STEM, including women, first-generation students, and minorities.
- Contribute to the program¿s lead efforts in developing industry partnerships by assisting with joint branding and outreach initiatives highlighting the program's strengths and graduates' career achievements.
- Develop and implement recruitment strategies, including outreach to community colleges, high schools, and international students to diversify the applicant pool.
Program Development
- Continuously monitor and analyze competitor programs and provide regular updates on changes, new offerings, and trends in Computer Science education in the state and across the country. Provide recommendations for program enhancements and ensure the department maintains high attractiveness and enrollment in competitive markets.
- Develop relationships with local, national, and international educational institutions to foster articulation agreements, dual-degree programs, and partnerships for student pipelines.
- Maintain working relationships with local high schools by attending district meetings, community events, high school college fairs/ informational sessions both on and off campus.
- Collaborate with the industry partners and maintain a strong network of partners including alumni to build internship opportunities, hiring pipelines, and curriculum feedback loops that reflect current workforce needs.
- Explore new pathways for admissions through national and international markets and develop outreach materials tailored to these audiences.
- Assist faculty and administration with opportunities for new program offerings, such as multi-disciplinary collaborations, certifications, or master's degree tracks.
- Create and maintain employment outlook data report for all CS graduates.
Admissions
- Coordinate and manage the selective admissions process for the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree program including a holistic review of applicants with the faculty committee members.
- Lead the CS admission committee and participate in the final review and decision making.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all applicants regarding admission decisions.
- Analyze and report out the admissions pipeline by identifying new student recruitment opportunities through external partnerships.
Budget & Resource Management
- Manage the Computer Science budget and purchasing. Track and monitor expenses; serve as the interface with the Finance Office to ensure activities are carried out in a fiscally responsible manner.
- Track and prepare reports of the program budgets and manage expenditures.
- Order supplies for the Computer Science program, faculty and staff.
- Submit and track external partnership contracts and payments.
- Oversee the Computer Science program space, such as manage student and faculty access and keys, maintain Computer Science library, and handle equipment purchases and supplies as needed.
- Coordinate meeting logistics for CS Advisory Board meetings, new student orientations and capstone presentations.
Supervision
- Supervise and train hourly support staff and student employees in the Computer Science program.
- Review applicants¿ credentials, conduct interview process, and lead the hiring of staff and students.
- Provide on-boarding for newly hired members of the Computer Science program.
- Assign and oversee work plans, evaluate staff performance and students¿ work.
- Coordinate the recruitment and outreach efforts for Computer Science faculty, staff and student employees.
Other
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of relevant educational and work experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience with program management.
- Minimum two (2) years of related experience in a capacity that involves customer service, finance management, marketing, recruiting and/or promotional experience, organizing workflows, implementing policies and procedures, information compilation and database management.
- Experience with mentoring/advising students.
- Experience with supervising staff and students.
- Demonstrated ability with organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills while being detail oriented.
- Intermediate experience with Microsoft 365, SharePoint and Word Press.
- Effective written and verbal skills at the appropriate level for the intended audience.
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse colleagues and/or students and contributes to a work culture that embraces diversity and diverse perspectives.
- Must be able to work an occasional alternate schedule, such as evenings or weekends.
- Experience with ABET accreditation process.
- Experience working in Higher Education in a student facing position.
- Experience working with computer science curriculum and programs.
- Experience guiding students with their transcript evaluation, course selection, registration, and selective admissions application processing.
- Experience dismantling barriers faced by underrepresented and historically marginalized student populations (e.g. students with disabilities, students of color, first generation college students, LBGTQIA students, Veterans, and multilingual students).
