Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer with a focus on Electrical and CCA commodities to join our team.
Based on site in our Sensors and Weapons Center of Excellence, located in Largo, FL, this position will be accountable for executing and delivering Supplier Quality strategies within the relevant program, line of business, or manufacturing environment. This role involves ensuring supplier compliance to regulatory requirements and leading continuous process improvements to maintain high-quality performance from suppliers.
Job Responsibilities- Act as the Project Manager for resolving supplier caused issues and serve as the internal liaison to Leonardo DRS stakeholders on supplier caused issues.
- Lead and perform on-site supplier engagements, including performance reviews, surveillances, and QMS audits. Occasional Source Inspections may also be necessary.
- Conduct process and product audits, capacity assessments, and ensure supplier compliance with military and company standards.
- Evaluate and disposition non-conforming materials and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for process and product quality issues with suppliers.
- Initiate and manage Supplier Corrective Action Plans and follow-up to ensure objective evidence for closure.
- Monitor, report, improve, and develop supplier performance through robust data analysis and execution of CI initiatives.
- Provide technical support for assembly/test/inspection personnel, specifying sampling plans, and developing inspection methods and criteria within our receiving inspection department.
- Represent the company with professionalism and credibility in supplier and customer engagements.
- Drive supplier continuous improvement processes and lead cross-functional teams.
- Analyze data to identify and mitigate supplier quality risks to prevent material defect occurrences.
- Understand general procurement principles in defense and commercial environments.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field or equivalent experience and a minimum of 5 years of experience
- Proficient technical expertise and application domain knowledge
- Working knowledge of AS9100 Quality System and compliance with ISO 9001/AS9100 requirements.
- Proficient experience with APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, and Control Plan tools
- Proficient with ISO Standards, Six Sigma tools, statistics
- Familiarity with statistical methods, Lean and continuous improvement practices, and the ability to understand military specifications and to read blueprints
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and writing skills
- Ability to define problems and drive to root cause and effective corrective action
- Estimated travel requirement - 10-25%
- 8-10 years of experience in Quality, Manufacturing, or Design Engineering in a defense electronics manufacturing environment.

U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
The expected pay scale for this position is $85,000/year - $135,000/year. Should the level, location, or scope of the position change during the hiring process, the pay scale may be modified accordingly. When extending an offer of employment, Leonardo DRS considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position; any Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, the candidate's relevant work experience, education/training, certifications, and key skills; internal equity; and market and business considerations.
