Director, Government Contracts Counsel OverviewMastercard's Global Government Contracting team is part of the Strategic Initiatives & Technology group which provides legal strategy and execution for Operations & Technology, Corporate Development & MA as well as Government Contracting and Marketing & Communications.
Role
We are seeking an attorney with significant experience working with U.S. government contracts and supporting a government contracts compliance program. This full-time role will support the Americas region from a contracting perspective on government opportunities. In this role, you will have a leading role in providing transactional support to the business. You will:
• Support the Senior Vice President of Global Government Contracting to provide advice and counsel regarding U.S. government contracts matters, including negotiations and supporting the business on sales opportunities and contract administration post-award
• Assisting legal colleagues supporting other Mastercard business units with federal, state and local government contracts
• Supporting the U.S. Government Contracts compliance program, which includes training, program design, training and deployment of solutions on a global basis
• Manage a significant workflow of agreements, draft and negotiate complex agreements with prime contractors, various government agencies and other strategic partners.
• Implement or enhance technology solutions to support identification, tracking and monitoring of Government Contract obligations
• Support business teams and assigned lawyers on enterprise-wide global expansion efforts to drive growth by executing new government contracts, track new and emerging regulations with risk mitigation at the center
• Support integration efforts of newly acquired companies
• Design or enhance templates, playbooks, processes and procedures needed to scale the government business.
All About You
• 5-10+ years of specialized legal experience in U.S. government contract transactions, and related counseling, compliance or administration of such transactions
• Experienced with the competitive procurement processes in government acquisition.
• Preferred experience includes contracting on behalf of commercial contractors providing multiple products and services under multiple contracts to the government.
• Juris Doctor and membership in good standing in at least one state bar
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to manage multiple projects
• Strong business acumen, sense of urgency and a team player with a collaborative attitude and an ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines is a must.
